4 years, 80 + dinners and hundreds of guests later, ‘Spooning With Sara’ has become a vibrant (and yummy) community for young professionals and artists in Los Angeles.

It started in 2018 with a handful of friends, meeting for a home cooked meal on Wednesday nights in an attempt to break up the monotony of the work week. Good food, good company. Simple. 

By the third month, the ritual of Wednesday nights changed to Saturday nights. Eight friends soon became thirty. We bought new (Ikea, folding) chairs and new friends shared a seat at our table. Our menus expanded as fast as our appetites did and unique musicians brought beautiful life into our living rooms. ‘Spooning With Sara’ became an escape from whatever was ‘going on’ that week; a comforting nook full of delicious food, conversation and creativity. 

‘Spooning Events’ are ever evolving and expanding, offering intimate and entertaining experiences as an alternative to dining out/ ‘going out’. Pull up a seat at our table and join us in celebrating food, artistry and conversation, because life is better when you share a meal with a stranger.

In 2019, Sara continued to grow her client base in both LA and NYC, focusing primarily on intimate dinner parties and weekly private-cheffing for families. She has now included event planning within her services, managing all producing aspects for events, from menu to vendors. 2019 took Sara to Greece, Canada & the Bahamas as she was hired by families to be their private chef on their family vacations.

In 2020, Sara introduced ‘Virtual Cooking Lessons’ to her business, offering private and personalized virtual cooking lessons to clients all over the country. Many of Sara’s Instagram followers have booked classes with her, seeking a unique experience with a private-chef to help them level-up in the kitchen. Sara does ‘one-on-one’ sessions as well as group lessons. She has done ‘Birthday Party Cooking Classes’, ‘Corporate Team Building Classes’ as well as classes with kids as young as 3 years old.

In 2021/2022, Sara started focusing on her ‘Private Chef Meal Delivery Service’. This service offers the perks of having your own, full-time private chef with the convenience and affordability of an a-la-carte meal delivery program.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Sara Frost is the founder and head-chef of ‘Spooning With Sara’. Growing up in a family full of food lovers, packed kitchens and tons of fun parties, Sara has always had a knack for gathering friends and family together around food and fun. It was her instinctual love for bringing people together that lead her to launch, ‘Spooning With Sara’ into the full-service event making business that it is today.

What started as a side-passion in early 2018 quickly became a ‘main-passion’, as the demand for more ‘Spooning’ events quickly grew. In January, 2018 Sara was a contestant on Food Network’s “Chopped U” show, where she won with her “Fiery Chicken Tortilla Soup”. In October 2018, Sara co-founded “Alice Street”, an event-rental and e-commerce company, with her business partner, Emilie Dodge. Together, Emilie and Sara strove to “bring back the art of the dinner party”. Although the company has since closed its doors, attention to detail within the design of every event is paramount to Spooning With Sara.

Sara has worked under the mentorship of various LA based chefs, such as chef Ella Freyinger (“Ella Freyinger Catering”), chef Vinh Nguyen (“Stay Lucky”), Greg Campbell (“Annie Campbell”) and "Klein Kitchen”. She is always seeking out collaborative opportunities and unique ways to create with other chefs and event producers.

Now in 2022, ‘Spooning With Sara’ has grown to include weekly meal-delivery services (for 14+ weekly clients), ticketed pop-up dinner series, full-scale event catering, recipe development, brand partnerships, private-chef work and event planning.
